FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions about working with us.

What to know about employer enquiries, career strategy, the free resume review, your data and verifying vacancies.

For employers

How does an employer engagement begin?

Share the role, the business context and your priorities through Discuss a Search. The founder reviews the requirement and, if it is one we can research properly, arranges a scoping conversation. You then receive a written proposal setting out scope, deliverables, confidentiality and fees. Nothing starts until that proposal is agreed.

How are fees agreed?

Fees depend on the scope of the mandate and are confirmed in writing before any work begins. We do not publish a rate card, and an enquiry does not commit you to an engagement.

Do you work internationally?

Search can include international markets through digital research, professional networks and targeted engagement. The Forge Careers is based in Nigeria; international search capability does not imply physical offices in other countries.

For professionals and candidates

Does it cost anything to register my profile?

No. Registering a professional profile is free. We never charge candidates to be considered for an employer’s recruitment process.

How is career strategy different from recruitment representation?

Recruitment is funded by the employer and exists to fill the employer’s role. Career strategy is a paid advisory service for you as an individual, focused on your direction, positioning and search. They are separate engagements with separate purposes.

Does paying for career strategy give me access to your search mandates?

No. Buying career strategy does not place you on an employer shortlist, give you access to confidential mandates or guarantee representation. If you are relevant to a search, that is assessed on the same basis as any other professional.

How are professional profiles evaluated?

Profiles are reviewed by a person against the requirements of relevant mandates: function, seniority, sector, market and the evidence of the work you have done. No automated candidate-ranking system is used. Submission does not guarantee contact, representation, an interview or an offer.

Will my resume be shared without my permission?

No. Any proposed sharing of your profile with an employer is discussed with you first. Registration alone is not permission to circulate your profile to unrelated organizations.

Is career strategy the same as resume writing?

No. Career strategy starts with direction, market positioning and target-role alignment. Resume and LinkedIn strategy support that work; document formatting is not the core offering.

Can you guarantee an offer or immigration outcome?

No. Recruitment and career strategy do not guarantee employment, interviews, offers, sponsorship, compensation or immigration outcomes.

Free Resume & Job Description Match Review

How does the resume review generate its assessment?

It applies published, rule-based checks to the text of your resume and the job description: whether the document can be read reliably, which stated requirements and key terms are evidenced, whether experience is described as outcomes, and how closely the resume reflects the role. The weighting of each part is shown on the tool page and in every report.

Is AI used?

No. The current version uses transparent rules, not an AI model, and no part of your documents is sent to an AI provider.

Are uploaded resumes retained?

No. Your resume and the job description are read and analyzed inside your own browser. They are not uploaded to The Forge Careers or stored by this website. Closing or refreshing the page clears them.

What does the score mean, and what does it not mean?

It is an indicative measure of how clearly your resume evidences one specific job description. It is not a score from any employer’s applicant tracking system, a probability of being interviewed or hired, or a judgment of your ability. Different employers use different systems and selection criteria.

Does using the tool register me as a candidate?

No. Using the tool does not register you, add you to any database or mailing list, or share anything with an employer. To be considered for relevant mandates, you would need to register your profile separately.

Trust, data and support

How can I verify a vacancy attributed to The Forge Careers?

Authorized vacancies are published on the opportunities page of this website, each with a closing date. If you see a role attributed to The Forge Careers elsewhere, or receive an approach claiming to come from the firm, email [email protected] to confirm it before applying or sharing personal information. The firm only writes from two addresses: [email protected] for enquiries and [email protected] for technical support.

How is my professional information protected?

Form submissions are stored in Netlify Forms with access limited to authorized administrators, and they are never published on the website. Share only information relevant to your enquiry. Please read the privacy notice and recruitment data notice for details.

How do I ask for my data to be corrected or deleted?

Enquiries are deleted automatically 12 months after submission and candidate profiles after 24 months. To ask for earlier correction or deletion, email [email protected] with enough information to identify your submission. Do not send identity documents unless a specific secure verification process has been agreed. Requests are reviewed and answered by a person.

How do I apply for a published role?

Open the role on the opportunities page and select Apply Now. Your candidate profile form is labelled with the role you are applying for, so it reaches the right search. You can also register your profile without a specific role in mind.

How do I hear about new roles?

Subscribe to the mailing list at the foot of any page and choose Opportunities. We email when new roles are published. To unsubscribe, email [email protected] and your address is removed.

How do I get technical support?

For problems with the website, form uploads or the resume review tool, email [email protected]. Describe what you were doing and the browser you used, but do not attach your resume.
